This is a story told to me by a girl I once knew…

I Once Drowned

This book is dedicated to my little angel, in hopes that it will make the world a better place, even if just a little, so that you can dance freely upon the edges of the sea.

Love,

Mom

I ONCE DROWNED

Holly Cohen’s life is one of constant instability, continually shifting her identity to match her surroundingsβ€”California coast, recording studios, juvenile hall, correctional facilities, even drug dens.

Justice action

JA’s main goal is to improve the social and mental health of prisoners and involuntary patients.

Instead of an offender returning to society more troubled than before they were imprisoned, JA works to improve the wellbeing of inmates by giving mental and social support.

That way, the focus can be on their rehabilitation and a healthy and successful return to society.

Community justice coalition

CJC advocates reforms to our prison system so that it is not only punitive but also educative and restorative.

In doing so, recidivism rates will be lowered, while results for financial investment will be higher.

Their progressive approach leads to better results on community safety and fairness in a public prison system.

Plates 4 mates

Many people are doing it tough. Without permanent housing or little to no income, a healthy and warm meal can sometimes be hard to come by.

Every Sunday, volunteers cook food and provide snacks and drinks for those who need it the most. Plates 4 Mates distributes these meals to those who need it the most.

Until now.
